West Street

Street guide, Portchester

The main commercial street through Portchester, running roughly east to west through the centre of the village. West Street has a mix of shops, takeaways, a Co-op supermarket, a bakery, a post office and the Portchester Community Centre. It connects the old village at the castle end with the residential streets stretching west towards Wicor and Cams Alders. The road carries a fair amount of traffic, especially during school runs and at peak commuting times. There is limited on-street parking, and spaces fill up quickly. Most of the everyday services that residents rely on are located along this road or in the streets immediately off it.
