A long residential road running through the eastern part of the village towards the boundary with Paulsgrove and the city of Portsmouth. Portchester Road has a varied mix of housing from different periods, including some older properties near the western end and more uniform postwar estates further east. The road carries a steady flow of traffic and serves as one of the main routes linking Portchester with the wider Portsmouth conurbation. During rush hours the road can be busy, but at other times it is relatively quiet. There are some small parades of shops and services along its length, and the road is served by bus routes connecting to Cosham and Portsmouth city centre.
