Running parallel to the harbour shore in the eastern part of Portchester, Northern Road connects the residential streets between White Hart Lane and the waterfront. Houses on the northern side of the road are close to the harbour footpath and benefit from proximity to the water. The street has a mix of interwar and postwar properties, many with generous rear gardens. Northern Road is a popular route for residents walking to the harbour path, and it sees regular foot traffic from dog walkers and joggers heading for the waterfront. The atmosphere is quiet and residential, with little through traffic. At the northern end, paths lead down to the harbour edge where views open up across the water.
