Harbour Flood Defence Works

undefined

Fareham Borough Council and the Environment Agency carried out flood defence improvements along the Portchester harbour shore, including the area around the castle. Rising sea levels and increased storm frequency had made parts of the waterfront path vulnerable to flooding at extreme high tides. The work included new sea walls, raised paths and drainage improvements. The project balanced the need for modern flood protection with the sensitivity of the historic setting around the Roman walls.
